Pricing is based on the space your work occupies, not the number of pieces. If you wish to fire a single piece, but it takes up the whole kiln, you will be charged for a full kiln.
Tall pieces: Any work over 15 cm in height (taking up most of the kiln depth) will be counted as two shelves, or as a full kiln if it prevents stacking other work above. This ensures fairness for everyone sharing kiln space.
Bisque firings: to 1015°C
Glaze firings: available from cone 06 to cone 8 — please specify your desired temperature when booking.
Turnaround time: typically 5–7 days per firing, depending on kiln load and schedule. We’ll notify you when your firing is complete.
All pieces must be completely bone dry before drop-off — damp work cannot be fired.
Please ensure no glaze on the bottom of your pieces or anywhere that will touch the kiln shelf. Runny or experimental glazes should be placed on kiln cookies or protective stilts.
Renters are responsible for any damage to kiln shelves, stilts, or other kiln furniture caused by glaze runs, melting, or sticking. Replacement or repair costs will be charged to the renter. Please refer to our terms and conditions for specific costs.
You are encouraged to bring your own kiln cookies to prevent accidents and protect your work (and ours!).
If you wish to use the studio glazes to glaze your pieces, we are happy to accommodate you. The studio offers stoneware glazes, underglazes, stroke-and-coat style glazes, and earthenware glazes.
If you wish to use our glazes, please notify us in advance, preferably before your bisque firing.
Use of studio glazes requires booking Open Studio hours. Studio access is charged at a starting rate of 150 kr per hour. We offer discounts for longer sessions. For example, if you require 3 hours to glaze your work, the studio access cost will be 410 kr.
Expedited firing fee: +25% (for work that needs to be fired outside the normal kiln schedule or in a partial load).
Availability depends on timing and kiln space — please confirm first.
Please collect your pieces within 7 days of being notified, unless otherwise arranged.
Uncollected work may be moved or discarded after two weeks to make space for new firings.
All firings are handled with care, but ceramic firing always involves risk. Keramiko cannot be held responsible for:
Cracking, warping, or breakage caused by clay body, construction, or moisture issues.
Damage due to incompatible materials or improper preparation.
Booking of kiln firing or kiln hire services constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Kiln firing services are provided with professional care, but ceramic firing involves inherent technical risks.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that submitted work is properly prepared and suitable for the selected firing type. This includes correct drying of work, appropriate clay body selection, and the use of glazes and materials intended for the firing temperature.
The studio may refuse to fire pieces that are assessed as unsafe, unsuitable, or likely to damage kiln equipment.
The studio is not liable for loss or damage to customer work unless such damage is caused by documented negligence from the studio.
The customer is liable for damage to kiln equipment caused by their submitted work. The standard charge for damaged kiln shelves is 500 kr. per damaged shelf. Damage to kiln posts will be charged at the studio’s stated replacement cost.
Damage to kiln structure, insulation, heating elements, or other technical components will be charged at the actual repair cost plus a reasonable handling and service fee.
Customers acknowledge that ceramic firing processes may result in cracking, deformation, glaze movement, or other material changes that are not considered service faults.
All bookings are considered an agreement to terms and conditions.
